Our founding pastors, Jeff and Adrienne Cannell sensed a call to plant a church in the Clintonville/University District neighborhood. CV had its beginnings in 2004, in open air meetings at the Whetstone Park of Roses. Too many incredible leaders to name here contributed to these early years of Central Vineyard, and a church that is now 20 years old owes its success to folks who have contributed in countless ways to seeing the love of God become a concrete reality in the lives of people here in Columbus and around the world.
After meeting at a few different locations in the neighborhood for almost fourteen years, Central Vineyard relocated to the current location in 2018. Over the years, CV has consistently engaged in a variety of projects serving the most vulnerable in the community, most notably projects that have sought to address housing insecurity, serving refugees, and supporting orphans in Cambodia through a longstanding partnership with Asia’s Hope.
The Cannells faithfully served as lead pastors at Central Vineyard from its founding in 2004 until the end of 2023 after discerning an invitation to transition the church to new leadership. At the beginning of 2024, Central Vineyard welcomed Jared Boyd as Interim Lead Pastor and a newly organized group consisting of longtime leaders and new faces make up the leadership team of the church. For the first time in its history, Central Vineyard is in the process of nominating, training and installing a team of elders in 2025.
Our mother church is Vineyard Columbus. Our founding pastors served on Pastoral Staff for four years before sensing a call to plant a neighborhood church. We have been tremendously blessed by the leadership of Vineyard Columbus with their generosity in providing mentoring and ministry resources.
Central Vineyard is a part of Vineyard USA. Some 130,000 people call about 500 Vineyard churches home throughout the United States. Our global movement is a family of more than 2,500 churches in 95 countries, committed to helping people personally encounter Jesus’ love. Vineyard embraces our formation into people who live like Jesus and demonstrate the power of God’s Holy Spirit. Each Vineyard church seeks to be an outpost of God’s compassionate love in a hurting world. From the beginning, Vineyard pastors and leaders have sought to hold in tension the biblical doctrines of the Christian faith with an ardent pursuit of the present day work of the Spirit of God. We also enthusiastically partner with the larger Vineyard family in their efforts initiating a Church Planting Movement in Cambodia.
